Watch Your Luggage

I'm telling this story as a reminder to all of you to double check your luggage when you pick it up at the airport. When we arrived at the San Diego airport we headed to baggage claim to wait for our luggage. We had about nine bags to pick up but they all made it to San Diego safely.

We had recovered eight of our bags and the only one missing was Marcus' little red suitcase. We waited and waited and it never came. By this time all of our plane had received their bags and we were the only ones left at baggage claim. There was, however, another little red suitcase going round and round on the baggage claim. It was the same size and shape as Marcus' bag so we thought someone may have picked up his bag by mistake.

Sure enough, that's what had happened. Some woman had taken Marcus' bag instead of her own. The thing that really baffled all of us is that Marcus' bag had a bright neon green tag on it with his name. And her bag had a yellow handle which Marcus' did not. Obviously this woman did not notice either of these things and in fact, she didn't notice she had the wrong bag until about 10:00 that night!

Luckily the airline was nice enough to switch the bags and deliver Marcus' bag to our hotel. Just make sure you double and triple check that you have the correct bag when you go to baggage claim next time. I know none of you would be as unobservant as this woman was but this is just a friendly reminder!
