Adventures of Speaking in Church

Jesse and I had to speak in church yesterday since we are relatively new to our ward. As the youth speaker was giving her talk the power went out. That means we have no lights, no air conditioning and no microphone! I kept thinking by the time it was my turn to speak they would have fixed it but sadly that was not the case. I had to yell my entire talk so the people in the back could hear me. This was definitely a first and will go down in my mind as the most interesting talk I've ever had to give.

Come to find out the reason for our 'yelling in church adventure' was a squirrel! That's right; a squirrel!

San Francisco

We went to San Francisco this week and had so much fun! Gavin was so good and pretty easy to travel with. It was a quick trip and I'm sad it's alreay over.
Here we are at Pier 39 with Alcatraz behind us.

It was a little chilly right by the water but Gavin didn't mind it too much.

We visited the Golden Gate Bridge and we even took a Harbor cruise under the bridge.

Here are the four Russon kids at the Oakland Temple. As you can tell it was game day when we took this photo. We went to the temple on our way to the Raiders game. Let's just say the atmosphere was a bit of a contrast!

The main reason for this trip was to go to the Raiders game. Sadly it was a horrible football game but we still had fun. The Raiders fan base is definitely unforgettable.

The highlight of the trip for the boys was meeting two of the Raiderettes!

San Francisco is such a beautiful city and I can't wait to go back!

Utah vs. UNLV

YEAH football season has returned! We were so happy to be back in Rice-Eccles last Saturday to cheer on our Utes. It was strange not to be in the MUSS section but I think I'm going to enjoy our seats (except for the 'loud clapper' behind us!).

Gavin also enjoyed the game but I think he was a little confused by all the noise.

We couldn't really get any good photos of Elise because she was so far away so I stole this photo from Utefans.net. She's on the end to the left.

It's so fun to watch her on the field. It just adds to the fanatacism of our family!

I know it's a little outdated but here are a couple photos from Elise and my dad's trip to Michigan. They had so much fun and I can't believe she actually got to cheer at the Big House. What a cool experience!

Flight of the Conchords

I am never on the frontier of current events like Dan Creer so a lot of you have probably already heard of Flight of the Conchords before. For those of you who haven't, enjoy the conchorus!

Ute Fan Fest

It was fan fest on Saturday and we had so much fun! It was Gavin's first trip to Rice-Eccles and it was Elise's first time cheering in uniform. The Utes start the season in Michigan this Saturday and we couldn't be more excited. Elise gets to cheer in the Big House and my dad and grandpa get to go watch her! We are very jealous!!

Here's Gavin with Head Basketball Coach Jim Boylen

My good friend Cami was sweet enough to make this super cute wall hanging for Gavin! As if he didn't have enough Utah things for his room. :)

GO UTES!!!!

Heidious

I was lying in bed this morning and I thought up a word I'd like to share with you:

Heidious
(hi·dee·uhs) adj.

  1. The act of having your life controlled to create dramatic "real-life" situations like Heidi on The Hills or being spoon-fed lines

Ex. Her outfit is heidious; her mother picks out everything she wears

  1. Being painfully and willingly oblivious; i.e. that your boyfriend is a douche bag yet refusing to leave him and his invisi-beard

Ex. My heidious neighbor thinks that shoulder pads are coming back into style any day now.

  1. Mutilating one's face to a Michael-Jackson-like state

Ex. The new girl at work is heidious. She's more plastic than my Visa

  1. Lacking musical talent

Ex. This band is heidious! I can't stand the singer's voice.

Enjoy!

The Cabin

We went to the cabin over the weekend for one last summer getaway. The weather was perfect and it actually felt cold in the shade. It was so relaxing to read and take walks in the woods. We saw lots of deer which is always fun.

The two dogs LOVE the cabin. This was Hendrix's first cabin experience and she really enjoyed it.

Gavin enjoyed the cabin and I think he will take after his dad and be a lover of the outdoors. We had to get a photo of our chubby guy next to the chubby moose.

St. George

We went to St. George for a few days last weekend. It was full of the typical St. George activities: tennis, pool, eating out, shopping, etc. It was a lot of fun and it was so fun to have Gavin with us. He was so good and he really enjoyed the pool.

Here's Elise and Jesse doing stunts in the pool. They had everybody watching.

Gavin's Blessing Day

Yesterday was Gavin's blessing day and it was so great. Jesse did a wonderful job and our little man was so well-behaved! He didn't make a peep during the blessing and he slept through the rest of church.

Thank you to all our friends and family who attended. We love you all!

I Am A Utah Man Sir!

Only 33 days until kickoff!!!! We can't wait and we know Gavin is going to love Utah football games as much as we do!
