Grizzlies Event

Marcus has been playing on a special-needs hockey team for the past couple years and on Saturday they did a fundraiser at the E-Center.  His team is called "The Grizzlies" and it is so fun to interact with these kids. They are so sweet and they love being a part of this team.

New Car

A couple weeks ago we made a very grown-up purchase: a new car! We know that in the future we will need a larger car, so now was the time to get one.

The downside to all of this was giving up my Civic. I have loved that car and it holds a lot of memories. I had that car all through college so it reminds me of drives to California, perfecting my parallel parking skills on Adams Ave., driving up the huge hill in North Salt Lake every night to hang out with boys, lots of laughing and lots of singing! The car also reminds me of my first years of marriage and it has been such a good car for us to have.

Needless to say I got emotional when the time came to clean out the Civic and leave it behind.

But the thing that makes it a little better is knowing I get to drive this from now on!

I feel much more grown-up in my CRV and I feel like I've graduated to a "mom" car.  It's a blast to drive and I'm excited to make lots of new memories.

St. George

It was so nice to get away to St. George for a few days.  We had to leave the boys behind, but the girls had tons of fun.

We drove down Thursday night in the worst blizzard I have ever seen! You don't expect to see that much snow in the springtime and it was awful. Luckily we made it safely and the sunshine was out for the rest of the weekend.

Gavin loved the playground and he enjoyed the pool, even though he was a little hesitant.

We did lots of shopping, eating and lounging.  The perfect vacation combination!

I apologize

I'm sorry for my blog neglect lately.  My life has been crazy and the blog has been pushed to the end of the priority list.  I promise I will have new photos next week of St. George fun and of the new addition to our family. No, it's not a baby or a pet; think more along the lines of something that goes vroom!

Crazy Week

Last week was probably the most stressful week of my life. You've seen my post that MUSS sign-ups started last Wednesday and everything went horribly wrong! It really isn't fun when 5,000 students are blaming you for something that was not really our fault. It was extremely difficult because I love the MUSS and this job is something I enjoy so much, and for people to endlessly criticize it was very hard. Luckily we got most of the problems solved and in the end everything will work out.

The one bright side of last week was that Jesse started a new job. He is still working at the 'U' and is in his same department, but his job description has completely changed. I'm so proud of him and I know he is going to do an amazing job in this new position.

I am so ready for spring. This Utah weather is really starting to get on my nerves! I wish it would stop teasing us with sunshine because it's driving me crazy! Luckily we are headed to St. George next week so hopefully I will get my wish of warm temperatures!

MUSS Registration

Ahhh, it's my favorite time of year; not really! MUSS Registration starts this week which means my life will be pretty hectic.  We have changed a bunch of things about registration and I'm just praying it all works.  Wish me luck!

If you are a U of U student go to www.alumni.utah.edu/muss for all the details. Registration starts Wednesday!

Jackson Hole - President's Day

For the holiday weekend we headed to Jackson Hole with my family. James is playing for a Park City hockey team and they had two games in Jackson so we decided to tag along. I'm so glad we did because we had a blast!

Here we are eating at a little diner in Afton, WY. We ended up eating here on the drive up and the drive home because the food was really good!

Gavin LOVES hockey; in fact, one of his first words is 'hockey.' Looks like we are in for some early-morning hockey practices! He loved watching Uncle James play.

This is the view from our balcony! Can you believe how beautiful it is! We got super lucky and had our room upgraded to this awesome condo. We were definitely living the high life!

We did lots of walking around downtown, going into shops and eating out. The perfect thing to do on vacation!

The scenery is so beautiful and we took a drive to see the Grand Tetons. The perfect place to take some photos.

Gavin's favorite spot in the condo was the window-sill. Can you blame him?

We had some awesome meals on the trip and it doesn't get any better than smores!

YUM!

Go Utes!

My wonderful mother-in-law gave me a really fun surprise yesterday: a Utah snuggie! I have been wanting one ever since last football season and now I can't wait to use it in the fall.  Rice-Eccles here I come!

Yea!

We can't wait to welcome a new Whitchurch to the family in June. No, I'm not pregnant; but my sister-in-law is! Congratulations to Zach and Kate who are expecting a baby boy in June.

We are so happy for them and Gavin is excited to have another new cousin!

NEW CARPET!

Yesterday my wonderful husband spent his holiday moving furniture and sitting at home so we could have new carpet installed. I have been looking forward to this day for so long! I absolutely HATED our old carpet. It was flat, hard, dirty, stained and just plain gross. No matter how hard I tried to vacuum or clean, it never looked good.

Here is the before: this is the gross, ugly, dirty carpet.

And here is the after: the wonderfully soft, cushy, clean carpet!

Even though our bank account is now much lower I am so happy! It is such a great feeling when you can make your home look and feel nicer.
